UK Skin cancer incidence risen 45% in 10 years

Cancer Research UK has recently reported that the incidence of melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, has risen by 45% in the ten year period between 2004-2006 and 2014-2016 and, in the last year 500,000 people have been referred for investigation of a suspicious skin lesion.

With increased temperatures at home, and easy access to foreign holidays, men are most at risk on their chest and back while women are often diagnosed on their legs.

At Check4Cancer our skin cancer screening and diagnostic pathways are supported by specialist skin cancer nurses with telemedicine reporting by skin cancer specialists to provide rapid access to a high quality and timely diagnosis.
